I've spent a lot of this month finalizing and putting the finishing touches on a few concentration pieces of mine. Besides that I did a little sketching working on facial features like my new piece below. Before starting this painting I did a few sketches and drawing to defamiliarize myself with drawing body parts. I plan on adding more detail to the lips and inside of the mouth, and then going in and painting small vines and flowers growing out of the mouth. This is going to be another concentration piece; it fits my Nature vs. Urbanization because humans created civilization which in turn created urbanization, but in the end we all die and go back to the ground, aka back to nature. I chose to do a mouth because the mouth is how we talk and communicate, and without communication, we certainly wouldn't be as advanced as we are today.

This month I took a break from the paintings I've been spending a large amount of my time on and just wanted to make a fun little piece that may still work for my AP portfolio. This one was time consuming, but for once I started it and finished it in a. reasonable amount of time only creating one other pice of art during the process. I'm finished with the painting as a whole, but I may take some time to go in and clean up the small details. Besides that I really like this piece and hope to use it in my portfolio
For the past month or so, I've been working on this street view image of a flower shop embedded on an average city street. This fits my concentration of nature vs urbanization. The flower shop took the most time. I wanted it to be the most intricate and stand out among the rest of the scene. This is because for my concentration I want to either have the nature stand out from the urban, or vise versa like my last painting of the car. I added more nature into the painting by adding flower beds outside the apartment windows. I also love the red brick details and how it fits so well with the flower shop below.
I decided to finish this piece by painting a cityscape in the headlights. This piece also helped me come up with my focus for my AP Art portfolio: Nature vs. Urbanization (or something along those lines). To finish off the painting, I added a little more shading and small details to bring the piece al together. I developed skills painting this, and solved problems by filling in the headlights (in my last post I didn't know what to do in that space). And finally I created original art by pairing so many different landscapes and environments into the final result.
This month I chose to focus on acrylic paint and how to include depth and texture into my paintings. Neither painting is finished. The first painting needs more small details as well as figure out what to do with the space in the headlights. The second painting will be a galaxy with shooting stars and planets. I'm going to focus on making the planets look 3D with shading and color difference. For this assignment we sketched a solid still life. Instead of drawing in the details we focused on the negative space and making that part stand out. I kept mine simple by using only primary colors and solid blocks of color. In this assignment I created original art, developed skill in my thick and thin line variations and took chances by painting the negative space instead of collaging it.
For this project we spent the week creating small pencil drawings based on prompts. For the final product we combined all the drawings into one with whatever medium of our choice. I used watercolor, pen and markers on just plain paper.
For my watercolor I based mine off a picture I found on the internet. I first created the background with watercolor, paper cutouts and painters tape. After the base dried I went in with markers and added all the small details. I used one bowl to make one circle as a star, but besides that the entirety of the circles/triangles are free hand. The stripe in the middle was made by covering the area in water and then mixing the watercolors in a non-pattern movement.
For the color pastel sweet shop I decided to do fruits rather than desserts. I created a shadow on the fruits by blending white pastel on the highlighted parts and blending black onto the edges to sharpen the lines. I made sure to add details like the green at the top of the banana and the ombre'd leaves on the cherry stems.
